WFI Case Updates: Wrestlers Organise Mahila Maha Panchayat, Plan Candle March and More
Hope the wrestlers get justice!

It is a heartwrenching plight to see the Indian wrestlers protesting for months now against WFI Chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia have been protesting since the start of the year to demand action against Sharan Singh as they allege that he has been sexually harassing the female coaches and the players for many years now. Despite their months-long protests, FIRs against him were not until recently. If you have not been following up on the wrestlers’ protests, here are all the latest updates on the same.
2 FIRs against WFI Chief
Two FIRs have been filed at the Connaught Place police station against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and one of them is under POCSO as one of the complainants is underage.

SC rejects wrestlers plea for court-monitored probe
The Supreme Court rejected the wrestlers’ plea of having the court a monitored probe in this case. The Ape court also said that FIR has been filed and the protestors have been provided with high security as well.

WFI Chief gives his statement to the police
On May 11, WFI Chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh gave his statement to the police wherein he denied all the allegations against him. The statement has been recorded under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).

Protesters to attend mahila panchayat
All the protestors are going to attend a mahila panchayat outside the new Parliament building which is set to be inaugurated next week and PM Modi is also going to be in attendance.

Candle march to be organised at India Gate
It has been a month since the protests have intensified but there is no action taken against the WFI chief. Therefore, a candle march is also going to be organised by the protesters on May 23 at India Gate.

WFI Chief ready for narco test
Taking to his social media account, the WFI Chief wrote that he is ready to take the narco test but wants Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat to undertake the tests as well.
Despite such consistent protests, the inaction of the government’s part looks like they are trying to buy time to protect the WFI Chief.
