Vinesh Phogat Welcomes Baby Boy
Wrestler Vinesh Phogat’s elder brother, Harvinder Phogat, confirmed this joyous news on Wednesday, July 2. He told The Indian Express, “Vinesh gave birth to a baby boy this morning. Both mother and baby are healthy. It’s a moment of great joy for our family,” He revealed that the wrestler will be returning to her husband Somvir’s house, where their family will be heading too.
Back in March, Vinesh shared this joyous news on her social media with a caption that said, “Our love story continues with a new chapter,” with baby emojis. This post drew major attention from fans and fellow athletes. This happy news comes after an emotionally charged and traumatic period in Vinesh’s life.
Last year at the Paris Olympics, she was heartbroken when she was disqualified from the women’s 50kg final for exceeding the weight restriction. She later described the episode as the “biggest wound” of her life, but she did leave the door open for a future comeback to wrestling. Vinesh has won two bronze medals at the World Championships, one Asian Games gold, and three Commonwealth Games gold medals in a decorated career.
