On Monday, the Delhi High Court gave the verdict on s*xual harassment trials against former WFI Chief and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. The court acquitted him and the co-accused, Vinod Tomar, in the harassment allegations by the wrestlers. What Did Vinesh Phogat Say?
Wrestler Vinesh Phogat has shared an official note addressing the recent verdict by the Delhi High Court on the s*xual harassment case against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Vinesh Phogat wrote that it took a lot of strength and courage for the female wrestlers to come on the streets and protest against the injustice and file an FIR. She further claimed that Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh used all his power to threaten many complainants into taking back their allegations.
Furthermore, the note expressed disappointment and sadness over the recent judgement that acquitted Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh in all the s*xual harassment allegations. As per Vinesh Phogat, the government and other political factors were trying to shield the former BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh in this case. As per the official note, the female wrestlers have asked their advocates to keep pursuing this case and make an appeal to the higher courts. On the other hand, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh said that he always maintained his innocence. The wrestlers protested in 2023 demanding the resignation of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and a thorough investigation of the several harassment cases against him by the female wrestlers.
