In a story that’s both shocking and horrifying, a 37-year-old woman from China has gone viral after revealing the devastating consequences of not removing her makeup for over two decades. Known online as Niuyoumian, she recently shared a video that left social media users stunned, her face swollen, red, and riddled with irritation and rashes.
Woman’s Face Infested With Mites For Not Removing Makeup
The woman started using makeup at 15, and she applied it and never removed it properly for the subsequent 22 years, the South China Morning Post reported. The woman explained her skin problems actually started at 14 when she suffered an allergic reaction to a skin cream meant to cure acne. Having no funds for good skincare, she masked herself up with low-priced foundation and was subsequently doused with harsh chemicals during her training in beauty and hairdressing, further aggravating her condition.
She also had cosmetic injections in 2011 that terribly altered her face, triggering years of experimentation in skincare. “I used to believe that a little skin irritation was no issue,” she confessed in her video. “But after the age of 25, my face just got progressively worse.” She explained a maddening cycle of switching between products, never allowing them any time to take hold. That created additional irritation, and before long, her face was an infestation for demodex mites, tiny parasites that reside in hair follicles.

“The itching is awful. It’s like tiny bugs crawling on my face,” she said. Niuyoumian has since been diagnosed with rosacea, a long-term skin disease, and the case has set off intense debates online regarding skincare hygiene and risks of long-term abandonment. Her experience is an extreme wake-up call to practice good skincare, particularly the easy task of daily makeup removal.
