The infamous 19-minute 34-second viral video allegedly featuring a couple in West Bengal is still grabbing headlines even after several warnings by the police. The viewership of the clip has gone viral online and on search engines despite the authorities’ urging the people to avoid viewing or sharing the clip. According to police advisories posted on Twitter and Instagram by cyber safety accounts, they are manipulative or even AI-generated to prevent further dissemination.

About 19-Minute 34-Second Viral Video

Authorities believe that this increase in viewership can be an instance of the so-called Streisand effect, which occurs while attempting to suppress or refute anything. Fraud networks and other malicious persons are exploiting this curiosity and bombarding social media platforms like Twitter and Telegram, which leads to the alleged real video. By clicking on such questionable links, the user may be unaware that he or she has been subjected to a threat or legal action.

The authorities also revealed that either the clip is a real personal leakage or an AI-generated deepfake. Sharing it is against Indian law, especially one of the provisions of the Information Technology Act that prohibits obscene content without prior authorisation. These are legal repercussions of privacy violations, and cybercrime departments have stated that any search or forwarding may place the person involved in criminal acts.
