In a recent turn of events, the younger son of the late Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav, Prateek Yadav, has passed away at the age of 38. Reportedly, he was taken to Lucknow’s Civil Hospital at 5:55 AM when the doctors declared him dead. He was the son of Yadav’s second wife, Sadhana Gupta, and his brother, Aman Bisht, is currently with his body, which is being taken to a post-mortem for examination.

Despite his father having strong political connections, Prateek Yadav maintained his distance and was instead involved in fitness, business ventures, and real estate. He graduated from the University of Leeds in Britain and built a career outside politics. He chose business and fitness as he settled in Lucknow. He also has a gym there called The Fitness Planet, and apart from this, he was also involved in social welfare through an organisation called Jeev Aashray.
Prateek’s tragic passing comes days after he made multiple public comments on his marriage to Aparna Yadav. In a lengthy Instagram post, he accused her of damaging ties with his family and even called her a “family destroyer.” Yadav revealed that he would be deserving of the “selfish woman” soon and said that Aparna was forcing him to become famous. In the long confession, he revealed struggling with mental health. In the end, Prateek said he was unfortunate to have married “such a bad soul.”
For the unversed, Aparna Yadav is the vice-chairperson of the UP State Commission for Women. She married Prateek in 2011 in a high-profile ceremony in Saifai village, which is his ancestral home. She contested the UP Assembly elections from the Lucknow Cantonment constituency on a Samajwadi Party ticket but lost. Aparna later joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2022.
