Professional wrestling icon Hulk Hogan, whose birth name was Terry Bollea, died at the age of 71. The retired WWE superstar died of cardiac arrest at his residence in Clearwater, Florida on Thursday morning, according to a report presented by The Sun. Hulk Hogan was among the best-known names in sports entertainment. It was the 1980s, and wrestling’s golden age was seeing him rocket to fame and become an iconic figure of WWE (at the time WWF) with a catchphrase referred to as being The Real American by his fans. His red-and-yellow outfit, biceps, and catchphrases formed an invincible chain of popularity dubbed Hulkamania.
Hulk Hogan Dead At 71
The WWE Hall of Famer brought wrestling into mainstream pop culture, not only through his electrifying performances in the ring, but also by appearing in movies like Mr. Nanny and Suburban Commando. His crossover into film and television relegated him to the realm of a larger-than-life personality outside the squared circle.
During his career, Hogan captured six WWE titles, headlined several WrestleMania events, and earned millions of loyal fans worldwide. WWE, in a public release upon news of his passing, referred to him as “one of pop culture’s most recognizable figures” and credited him with bringing the sport into global prominence during the 1980s.

Besides wrestling, Hulk Hogan also became a professor of controversy in July 2024 when he gave a fiery speech at the Republican National Convention and endorsed former President Donald Trump.
Hulk Hogan was married thrice. He had two kids, Brooke and Nick, with his first wife Linda Hogan. He subsequently wed Jennifer McDaniel in 2010 and wed Sky Daily in 2023.
