Walmart employees have proposed alternative explanations for the death of a 19-year-old employee who was burned in the store’s walk-in oven in Canada. On October 19, the burnt remains of Indo-Canadian teen Gursimran Kaur were discovered inside the walk-in oven of the Walmart where she worked in Halifax, Nova Scotia. So, what happened at Walmart?
Who Was Gursimran Kaur?
Gursimran Kaur was a 19-year-old Indian who had moved to Canada with big dreams. She was working at Walmart for 2 years with her mother while her father and brother lived in India. She was recently found burnt to death in a walk-in oven at Walmart.
What Happened To The 19-Year-Old Girl?
Following her terrible death, some TikTok members who had worked at Walmart gave their thoughts regarding the physics of the walk-in oven, with some suggesting that you couldn’t get caught inside unless you were forced in. TikTok user Chris Breezie stated, while demonstrating how the oven at Walmart works, that the equipment is switched on from the outside and difficult to close.
“I’m not even sure whether I would fit in here. I’m 5 feet 1 and moderately build. “I’d have to crouch down to get in,” she said, adding that no staff was needed to enter the oven, even to clean it. She also stated that the heavy oven door was difficult to lock since closing it required “pushing [the latch] with all your might and pulling the handle to the side and locking it in place.”
Another Walmart employee expressed a similar sentiment, stating that it was difficult to lock yourself inside the oven. In a TikTok video, she even demonstrated entering the oven and exiting it using an emergency release with a simple push feature.
More On The Case
While a police investigation is ongoing, it is unknown how Gursimran became locked in the oven. Her mother, who worked at the business with her daughter, discovered her dead inside after a frantic search. Workers assumed her body was inside after seeing a leak from the oven.
