In a very unfortunate incident on Wednesday, July 5, American singer Coco Lee died by suicide. The news of her passing away was conveyed to the public by her sisters Nancy Lee and Carol Lee. The singer was just 48 years old at the time of her death and the major reason behind her attempting suicide was depression. It is extremely sad that a successful singer such as Coco Lee is no longer among us, however, she has left behind an inspiring journey of success in her singing career that will always be remembered.

What Happened?
In the note shared by the singer’s sisters, it was informed that Coco Lee was battling depression for a long time but was also getting proper treatment for it. However, her condition escalated and she tried to attempt suicide during the weekends. Coco Lee was immediately rushed to the hospital where the doctors began the treatment. For a brief time period, the singer was in come before breathing her last on July 5, Wednesday.

Her Singing Career
Coco Lee was born in Hong Kong, however after her father’s death, her mother brought the entire family to the United States Of America. Coco Lee grew up in the USA and also pursued her higher studies at the University of California but she eventually realised her passion for singing. Coco Lee received singing offers during her University days and soon she stepped into the music world. During her 30-year-long career as a singer, Coco has sung many songs and also given her voice to the famous Disney character Mulan in its Mandarin version.

Achievements
Coco Lee’s list of achievements in her singing career is many. In 1996, her album was the best-selling one in Asia. In fact, Coco Lee went on to become the first Chinese-American to have performed her award-winning song at the Oscars.
