BJP Rajya Sabha MP Subhash Barala’s son, Vikas Barala, has been appointed as the Assistant Advocate General (AAG) of Haryana. This move has raised many eyebrows as he was accused in a high-profile stalking case of 2017 and an attempted abduction case that involved the daughter of Haryana IAS officer VS Kundu, Varnika Kundu. About Vikas Barala
As per the complaint, Vikas Barala and his friend Ashish tried to persuade Varnika Kundu by blocking her path in August 2017. They even tried entering her vehicle while she was returning home. They were booked under Section 354D (stalking), and with the charges of attempted abduction later. Charges were formally framed in October, after which he was in jail for over five months. The case is still being heard in a local Chandigarh court.
In 2017, The Wire reported that Vikas was not the only member of the Barala family to commit violence against a woman. Kuldeep Barala (Vikas’ cousin), who was the first member of the Barala family to come to Vikas’ defence on social media and resort to victim blaming after Kundu made her allegations public, and others have been accused of concealing a case of abduction and rape of a minor girl and intimidating the girl to withdraw her case. The accused in this case is Vikram (Vicky) Barala, Subhash’s brother’s grandson.

He is also one of the seven law officers designated to represent Haryana’s legal cell in Delhi. This move has created a lot of controversy after Barala’s previous legal troubles came to light.
