The situation in Nepal has gotten serious after the Gen Z protestors raised their voices against the corruption in the country. Many Government buildings and other places were also burnt down. The protest also led to the resignation of Prime Minister Oli. As per the latest updates, the new interim PM for the country has been selected, and it’s Sushila Karki. Who Is Sushila Karki?
Sushila Karki, the ex-Chief Justice, has been given the responsibility to temporarily handle the workings in the country as the Prime Minister. She served as the first woman Chief Justice of Nepal between 2016 and 2017. As per the reports, Sushila Karki was quite a popular candidate for the Prime Minister’s role among the Gen Z as she gained this trust after showing her intolerance towards corruption during her position as the Chief Justice. She would have a small cabinet and as per an NDTV report, the first meeting of the cabinet is most likely to take place on Friday. With this, Sushila Karki has also become the first woman Prime Minster of Nepal and she will be holding the position till the next elections took place. It’s called the caretaker government and they would hold elections within the next 6 months.

The Nepal protests turned violent in the last few days. Many celebrities also condemned the violent means used to suppress the Gen Z protestors. Many Indian tourists were also stranded in the country, and a video of the Indian tourist seeking help from the embassy had also gone viral few days back. Many people have also lost their lives in this protest.
