Who Is Pete DeJoy, New CEO Of Astronomer Replacing Andy Byron After Coldplay Kiss Cam Scandal?
After the Coldplay concert kiss cam scandal, data infrastructure company Astronomer has officially named Pete DeJoy as its interim CEO!

In the aftermath of a corporate scandal that took an unexpected turn on a Coldplay concert jumbotron, data infrastructure company Astronomer has officially named Pete DeJoy as its interim CEO. The leadership change comes just days after former CEO Andy Byron was spotted in an intimate moment with the company’s HR head, Kristin Cabot, on the venue’s kiss cam, an incident that quickly went viral and made headlines far beyond the tech world.
What Had Happened With Andy Byron, Kristin Cabot?
The moment, captured during Coldplay’s Boston concert, showed Byron and Cabot in a close embrace before awkwardly ducking for cover when the camera found them. Frontman Chris Martin, unaware of the full story, joked to the audience, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy,” which only added fuel to the fire. Within hours, social media was flooded with memes, speculation, and amateur detective work digging into their personal and professional lives.
By the end of the week, Byron had officially stepped down from his position. That’s when co-founder Pete DeJoy stepped in to take over leadership duties at least for now.
Who is Pete DeJoy?
DeJoy has been with Astronomer since its early days and is widely credited with shaping the company’s core products. A graduate of Bowdoin College with degrees in chemistry and physics, DeJoy previously served as Chief Product Officer and VP of Product.
In his first message as interim CEO, shared on LinkedIn, DeJoy acknowledged the “surreal” nature of recent events. He admitted the kind of media attention the company was receiving was far from ordinary but emphasised that the team at Astronomer has always faced challenges head-on.
“We’ve built this company by solving hard problems and doing things the right way,” he wrote, urging employees and clients to stay focused on the mission. “Astronomer is bigger than any one person or moment.” He ended by thanking his team for their resilience and assured customers that their trust wouldn’t be misplaced.
