Who Is Maya Tata, Potential Heir Of Ratan Tata’s Business Empire?

Last night, the tragic news of India’s most loved businessman, Ratan Tata, passing away surfaced. He inspired millions and created a legacy ahead of his time. However, who’s most likely to become his successor after Ratan Tata’s death? According to reports, Maya Tata, Ratan Tata’s niece, is set to continue the legacy of one of India’s most respected business families. 

Who Is Maya Tata?

Maya Tata, 34, is the niece of the late Ratan Tata. Reportedly, she can be seen as a possible future leader of the Tata Group.  Maya is the daughter of Noel Tata, Ratan Tata’s half-brother, and Aloo Mistry. The Mistry family, led by the late billionaire Pallonji Mistry, has played a significant role in the history of the Tata Group According to various news reports, Maya is also related to the late Cyrus Mistry, who was the former chairman of Tata Group. Maya Tata’s mother Aloo Mistry is Cyrus’s sister. Furthermore, Maya works alongside her siblings, Leah and Neville, and serves on the board of the Tata Medical Centre Trust, which plays an important role within the Tata Group.

Moreover, Maya Tata studied at the University of Warwick and Bayes Business School in the UK. She began her career with the Tata Opportunities Fund, which is a well-known private equity fund under Tata Capital. After that, she joined Tata Digital, where she played an important role in launching the Tata Neu app. Right now, Maya is one of six board members of the Tata Medical Centre Trust, which manages a cancer hospital in Kolkata that Ratan Tata opened in 2011.
