Who Is Atishi, AAP Leader Who Replaced Arvind Kejriwal As Delhi’s New Chief Minister?

In a turn of events, the chair of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been filled by AAP minister Atishi. The announcement was made official by the party on September 23, Monday. The former CM has decided to let the people of Delhi decide if they want to have him back in the chair and till then the responsibility has been transferred to Atishi. Who Is Atishi?
AAP minister Atishi officially took over the responsibility as the Chief Minister of Delhi. In the caption on Instagram, she compared her situation to Ramayana’s Bharat and Ram, and how the former took over the rule while Ram was in exile. Atishi further wrote that she will manage the workings of the capital for the next four months till the next elections take place.
Atishi has been a very integral member of Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party. She has been in charge of many sectors like education, revenue, PWD and finance. She was also an advisor to the previous Chief Minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia in 2018. She has a master’s degree in History from the prestigious University of Oxford.

In her political career, she once lost a Lok Sabha election in 2019. Atishi lost the East Delhi constituency to BJP’s Gautam Gambhir. However, she took an important position in the cabinet of the Delhi government. She is the third woman to become Delhi’s Chief Minister and also the youngest candidate to hold this position. After West Bengal’s Mamata Banerjee, Atishi is the only women Chief Minister in India.
