If you are active on social media, you would have seen the phrase Instagram viral 19 minute video trending. However, cybersecurity authorities are now warning that the trend is being exploited by scammers. Posts claiming to be the viral 19 minute video are popping up across all social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter), Instagram and Telegram. When clicking on the link, it delivers malware on the user’s device, which can be used to steal money or sensitive information. Read on to know more.

Here’s Why You Should Not Click On The 19-Minute Viral Video Link

Despite the 19 minute 34 second intimate recording of a couple trending nationwide, there is actually no verified source or an authentic copy to prove that such a video actually exists. It is believed that cyber criminals are using the phrase to push harmful links disguised with this title to attack users.

Investigators recently explained how scammers are using this link to their benefit. They stated that criminal groups are circulating shortened URLs and fake sites that promise to give access to the full 19 minute MMS. However, the moment someone clicks on these links, malicious software is installed on their device. This can allow the scammers to have access to passwords, account details, OTPs and other sensitive information of the user. Some scammers even start sending the user private messages asking them to pay a certain amount of money to access this video.

Cybersecurity experts say that this is just a trap to extort money, as no verified source confirms the existence of the 19 minute viral Instagram video.

Furthermore, lawyers also cautioned users from clicking on such links, as the danger is not only technical but also legal. Forwarding, reposting or sharing such explicit material, even if it’s an unverified clip, can have a person charged under the Indian law. According to the Indian Penal Code, circulation of obscene or s*xual content online is strictly prohibited as per the Information Technology Act and can lead to substantial penalties.
