Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly has been named in a sexual assault case filed at the Oonnukal police station in Kerala after the Hema Committee Row. The case, based on accusations by a 40-year-old woman, alleges that Nivin Pauly, along with five others, was involved in an incident of sexual assault in Dubai over a year ago although, Nivin has totally denied those allegations and even vowed to go to any extent to clear his innocence. Actors Vineeth Sreenivasan and Bhagath Manuel have stepped forward in defence of Nivin, providing an alibi that places him in Kerala at the time of the alleged assault.

He further detailed that they had been at Kochi’s ABAD Nucleus Mall until 3 AM on December 15 and that Nivin had been involved in shooting scenes for his series Pharma on those days. Vineeth emphasized that Nivin’s presence during this period can be easily verified through hotel bookings and the fact that they were filming in public settings with numerous people around. Bhagath Manuel also supported Nivin’s alibi, posting on Instagram photos of the trio working on set. The photos, time-stamped from December 14 and 15, further back up their claim that Nivin was not in Dubai at the time of the alleged incident.
The allegations against Nivin come shortly after the Justice K Hema Committee report was released, shedding light on the sexual harassment prevalent in the Malayalam film industry. As per recent updates, a total of 11 FIRs have been registered out of which 10 people belong to the film industry. Moreover, several members who were accused after the Hema Committee row have already got their anticipatory bail approved from the Kerala High court and names include director Ranjith and actors Mukesh, and Edavela Babu.
