Chief Justice Of India Reacts To SC’s Verdict On Stray Dogs In Delhi, Gives Some Hope!

There is a massive outrage regarding the recent Supreme Court judgement on stray dogs in Delhi-NCR region. The SC has ordered the sheltering of stray dogs in shelter homes and the removal of each one of them from the streets. The decision was met with a lot of protest in the Nation’s capital, and many animal activists came out on the streets. However, the matter has now reached the Chief Justice of India, and he has responded to it. Read on for more.
What Did The Chief Justice Of India Say?
The Supreme Court’s judgement on stray dogs in Delhi was criticised by animal activists and many celebrities too. Many people also urged the Chief Justice Of India, BR Gavai to review the matter. Even actor John Abraham wrote to the CJI and expressed his concerns over the judgement. Now, as per a Hindustan Times report, the CJI has made a short statement that has left the protestors with some hope. The CJI has said that he will look into the matter.
For the unversed, the SC has given the authorities eight weeks time to process and complete the removal of stray dogs. The authorities have been asked to make proper arrangements in shelter homes and even sterilise the dogs. The SC bench also dismissed the suggestion of bringing the sterilised dogs back to the streets. Many animal activists and celebs called this an inhumane treatment for the voiceless, and questioned the existing infrastucture for shelter homes.

Many celebrities like Janhvi Kapoor, Vir Das, Varun Dhawan and Sonakshi Kapoor among others raised their voices against the SC’s statement. Many protestors in Delhi were also detained by the police.
