Amid this, Sonam Wangchuk’s name took over the internet for his hunger strike. Many expressed anger when he was removed from Jantar Mantar during the same and taken to the hospital. Days after that, a new video featuring the activist went viral, where he was seen ending his 26-day hunger strike!
Sonam Wangchuk Ends 26 Days Hunger Strike!
In the video, Sonam Wangchuk is reportedly seen surrounded by the union ministers, medical staff, and supporters along with his family. In the clip, the activist sat up and took his first sip from a cup, which ended his 26 days of hunger strike. The video showed Minister JP Nadda stating that the government was positive about not registering cases against those protesting at Jantar Mantar and those participating in the march to Parliament on July 20. He added that the government had already assumed its discussions to explore solutions to paper leaks and educational reforms for exams in parliament. Additionally, he also stated that the government was positively considered suitable compensation for the su*cide victims of recent NEET paper leaks.

In the video, Sonam Wangchuk reportedly said that he was thankful and happy to break his fast. He expressed feeling touched and grateful to the government and wanted to appeal to the protestors to maintain utmost peace. He made sure to say that he didn’t approve of any kind of violence, adding that allowing any anti-social elements to take advantage of this was not acceptable to him. He also mentioned his wife Geetanjali said that she has always been by his side, and he didn’t want to thank her but express his feelings.
Additionally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged the activists on X to follow the doctor’s advice in his daily routine and regain his old weight as soon as possible. He also prayed to the Almighty for his good health.
