The Shraddha Walkar murder case has emerged as one of the most horrific murders that the country has witnessed. It has made conversations over violence against women by domestic partners a much-needed one and there are startling data also that was revealed by UN Chief very recently. Now, at the Times Now Summit, the union minister for women and child development, Smriti Irani has given out her opinion on the whole case. As per her, the Shraddha Walkar murder case shows that there is a need to discuss crimes against women by their intimate partners.
Recently, the alleged accused in Shraddha Walkar’s murder case, Aaftab Ameen Poonawala confessed before the court that he committed the crime “in the heat of the moment”. Speaking at the summit, Smriti Irani said that anyone who loves their partner cannot cut them in pieces just in the heat of the moment. The union minister also highlighted the fact that violence against women by partners is a frequently reported crime as per the National Crimes Records Bureau. Smriti Irani also said that domestic violence is now no more limited to the rural areas of the country or even uneducated people. It is now prevalent in urban cities too. She also said that the close people who are aware of violence against women do not really be of much help to them, as per the news. Union Minister also denied calling this brutal crime, Love Jihad and said that it would simplify the whole case, as per news.
As per the recent development in the Shraddha Walkar murder case, the Delhi police are trying their best to collect all the key evidence to build a strong case against the alleged culprit. Since the murder was committed approximately six months back, on May 18, there are many fewer DNA samples available.
