Delhi Court Gives Relief To Shikhar Dhawan In Legal Battle With Ex-Wife, Asks Latter To Return 5.72 Crores

Cricketer Shikhar Dhawan was in a controversial legal battle with his wife Ayesha since their divorce in 2023. The next hearing also took place at the Patiala House Court, in Delhi, and the verdict came in favour of the cricketer. Delhi HC On Shikhar Dhawan, Ex-Wife Ayesha’s Legal Battle
The dispute began after a verdict from the Australian court. For the unversed, Shikhar Dhawan’s ex-wife Ayesha Mukerji is an Australian National, and the court passed its verdict on the “Property Settlement” law. According to this law, the matrimonial assets were required to be distributed between the spouses. And in according to this, Shikhar Dhawan was ordered to pay 5.72 crores to his ex-wife Ayesha Mukerji. As per the Bar And Bench report, Ayesha Mukerji was also asked to pay nine percent interest on the said amount, per annum since the enforcement of the law.
The verdict was challenged by the cricketer and it the plea was heard by the Patiala House Court presided by Judge Devender Kumar Garg. As per the news reports, the Delhi HC questioned the legitimacy of the Australian law on the “Indian soil.” According to the court, there was no direct law under the Hindu Marriage Act that required a married couple to share the assets. . The Delhi court viewed the Australian judgement as ‘Unsustainable’. Shikhar Dhawan’s ex-wife Ayesha Mukerji has now been ordered to return the 5.72 crore which she received after the judgement passed by the Australian court.

For the unversed, Shikhar Dhawan had filed the divorce from his ex-wife on basis of ‘mental cruelty.’ He had also alleged that Ayesha Mukerji did not allow their son to see him for many months. He also claimed that his estranged partner made false claims to defame him and hamper his career.
However the cricketer recently began a new life with Sophie Shine. The two got married February 21, 2026.
