Shikhar Dhawan Defends Indian Army Amid Shahid Afridi’s Remark On Pahalgam Attack

Former Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi has found himself amid controversy after he remarked on the Indian army. Shikhar Dhawan also lashed out at him for blaming the Indian army for the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, that killed twenty-six people. In a strongly worded social media post, Dhawan begged Afridi to stop the verbal diarrhoea and backed the Indian Army, noting that everyone in the country is proud of the force’s efforts.

Shikhar Dhawan Lashes Out At Shahid Afridi

Days after Shahid Afridi’s bizarre comment about a security lapse leading to the terror attack on a Pakistani TV channel, Shikhar Dhawan made a shaking response. The former Pakistan cricketer also criticised the media’s coverage of the incident and challenged India to give evidence of Pakistan’s involvement in the terrorist act. Dhawan wrote, “Kargil mein bhi haraya tha, already itna gire hue ho aur kitna giroge, bewajah comments pass karne se acha hai apne desh ki taraqqi mai dimag lagao @SAfridiOfficial. Humein hamari Indian Army par bohot garv hai. Bharat Mata Ki Jai! Jai Hind!

The Resistance Front, a local offshoot of the Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba, claimed responsibility for the attack. The tragedy has generated indignation in India, with vows for immediate reprisal against Islamabad, which New Delhi accuses of harbouring terrorists on its land. Aridi further stirred the discussion by saying that India habitually blames Pakistan, and the Pahalgam terror attack was no different.

Former Pakistan cricketer Danish Kaneria also criticised Afridi for his callous remarks, advising national television outlets in Pakistan not to give the former all-rounder a platform to talk. He blamed him for having an extremist opinion. Kaneria also claimed that Afridi persuaded him to convert to Islam and even declined to share a meal with him.
