Ratan Tata, veteran industrialist and Tata Sons Chairman Emeritus died on Wednesday at the age of 86. He was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital on Monday after experiencing a significant decrease in blood pressure and was in critical condition in the intensive care unit. Tata begged people not to speculate about his illness in his last social media contact on Monday (October 7). He stated that there is no reason to be concerned about his health and that he is getting checked for age-related medical issues.
Ratan Tata Dies At 86
N Chandrasekaran, the chairman of Tata Sons gave out a statement saying, “It is with a profound sense of loss that we bid farewell to Mr. Ratan Naval Tata, a truly uncommon leader whose immeasurable contributions have shaped not only the Tata Group but also the very fabric of our nation. For the Tata Group, Mr. Tata was more than a chairperson. To me, he was a mentor, guide and friend. He inspired by example.”
Even in his final public appearance, Ratan Tata portrayed the ever-gracious and humble business magnate. While posting the announcement about his health worries, he wrote, “Thank you for thinking of me.”
Early Life
Ratan Tata was born in 1937 and raised by his grandmother, Navajbai Tata after his parents separated in 1948. He studied architecture at Cornell University and then took a management course at Harvard. According to his own account, the bachelor industrialist came close to getting married four times. He has claimed that he fell in love while working in Los Angeles. However, due to the ongoing 1962 Indo-China War, the girl’s parents refused to allow her to migrate to India.
