This world is really cruel and barbaric towards women. I know it’s a big statement to make, but with the kind of news that we hear related to crimes against women, it’s impossible to not feel this way for the times we live in. A one-and-a-half-year-old baby girl was raped by her own grandfather at home, and this crime is enough to remind us again that we as a country are still not doing enough to protect women, girls and even newborns!
The shocking case was reported from Uttar Pradesh, where the suspect was held in a small town of this state, Loni. The details of the crime that was released by the UP police will take your belief away from humanity. The suspect, in this case, is a 59-year-old man who is the grandfather of the victim. The FIR against him was filed by the victim’s father. As per the news, the Assistant Commissioner informed the media that the parents of the child were not present with the victim, since they were out to drop their elder kid at school. However, as soon as the father reached home, he saw the grandfather committing this heinous crime against the child, and he immediately reported the matter to the police. The baby’s health is said to be stable now, as per news.

The man identified to be an auto-driver tried absconding from his hometown after assaulting the child, but the police force was quick enough to get a hold of him at the Loni bus depot. The alleged accused has been charged under the POCSO act.
This is not the first incident to tell us that in many cases girls are not even safe in their own homes. But how devilish men can be that they raped a child not capable of doing anything by herself. What kind of mentality do these men have and why are we not addressing such problems in our country with stricter laws? How long will it take for our country to realise that the condition related to crimes against women is just getting worse each day?
