Rahul Gandhi Allegedly Blows Flying Kiss To Parliament, Smriti Irani Launches Attack. Is This A Fish Market?

All hell broke loose in the Parliament on Wednesday after Rahul Gandhi’s first speech in the Lok Sabha after being reinstated. While exiting, the Congress leader blew a flying kiss to the Parliament after speaking on the No-Confidence Motion. Union Minister Smriti Irani launched a scathing attack on the Wayanad MP for his action and called him a “misogynist” for blowing a flying kiss to the Parliament that seats women MPs.

Reacting to Rahul Gandhi’s flying kiss, Smriti Irani said that only a misogynistic man can do such a thing to a Parliament that seats women leaders while adding that his action goes to show what kind of family he comes from and how his family and party think and feel about women. She went on to allege that such “misogynistic” behaviour of a man has never been seen in the Parliament before.

BJP leader and Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje also reacted to the alleged flying kiss and called it “inappropriate and indecent” behaviour. She also questioned what kind of leader Rahul Gandhi is while demanding action against him for the same.

The BJP leader revealed that a complaint has been filed against the Congress leader. A copy of the complaint has also been shared on social media.

As Twitter debates the Rahul Gandhi Flying Kiss row, I’ve got some opinions on the matter. The first one being, why does our Parliament seem like a fish market where our elected leaders pick fights and indulge in mudslinging? From throwing chappals to watching porn to yelling and using filthy language, we’ve seen it all go wrong.

NGL but Smriti Irani’s reaction to the whole issue is just as problematic. The BJP leader called Rahul Gandhi’s actions “misogynistic” because he blew a flying kiss to the Parliament that “seats women MPs”. Seriously? For a Union leader, she makes a weak argument. Now, I understand that she believes that such “misogynistic behaviour” has never been seen before in the Parliament but I can recall a few too many incidents including several incidents of our leaders watching porn during sessions.

As for Rahul Gandhi, where do I even begin? This isn’t the first time the Congress leader has displayed disrespectful behaviour in Parliament. Remember when he hugged PM Modi mid-session during the 2018 Lok Sabha debate on the no-confidence motion? And then made it even worse by winking at someone in the house right after hugging the PM. Someone needs to teach him how to be more respectful towards the Parliament and maintain decorum.

TBH, the whole matter is questionable considering how Hema Malini claimed to have not seen the flying kiss while the internet sleuths point out her signature on the complaint that the NDA women MPs have written to the Lok Sabha Speaker, Om Birla, demanding action against the Congress leader.
