The accidental demise of Bengali actor Rahul Banerjee has spread shockwaves in the industry. The investigation is ongoing, and the recent updates suggest that the actor’s wife, Priyanka Sarkar, has also filed an FIR in Odisha. Now, there are reports about the Bengali film industry announcing an indefinite strike. They have also listed some demands. Read here for more about it.
Bengali Industry Goes On Strike
Rahul Banerjee reportedly died due to drowning. He was in Odisha for a shoot. His demise is being mourned by the Bengali film industry, and they have taken a strong decision. An official statement was shared on Facebook by the West Bengal Motion Pictures Artists Forum. The note said that one of the forum members, Rahul Banerjee, passed away on March 29 during the shoot of a TV series Bhole Baba Paar Karenge, and the reason for his demise was still not known. As per the statement, an urgent meeting was held on April 5, and present were the members of the Artists Forum, Federation, Television producers, and directors. The forum has decided to go on an indefinite strike from March 7, Tuesday, and it will be joined by the artists and technicians.
The forum has demanded strong steps to ensure the safety and security of artists and technicians on outdoor and indoor shoots. The notice strictly mentioned that the strike would not end till these steps are taken. The note clarified that the strike was not applied to actors who were already shooting in Kolkata or outside the state.

Earlier, an official statement was also released by the producers in which they expressed grief over the actor’s death. They also requested that anyone from Rahul Banerjee’s family join the investigation.
