The wedding festivities of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant have caused a stir on the internet. On Friday evening, Mumbai Traffic Police announced traffic restrictions in Mumbai for Anant Ambani-Radhika Merchant’s wedding (Public event). According to Mumbai Police, there will be restrictions and limited access from July 12 to July 15 near the Jio World Convention Centre. However, citizens were quick to express their frustration over the road closures and diversions which will cause major traffic jams all over the place.
Public Outrage Over Traffic Restrictions Due To Anant Ambani, Radhika Merchant’s Wedding
Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant will tie the knot on July 12. The grand wedding is going to be a three-day ceremony. Regarding that, the Mumbai Police announced that the roads near BKC will have restricted access from 1 p.m. to midnight. The Mumbai Police described the wedding as a “public event” which led to a public outrage on social media. Many citizens have expressed their dissatisfaction on social media and emphasised how the wedding festivities are interrupting locals’ everyday lives. Some are questioning the need for such extensive restrictions and the negative impact they’re having on the general public. The authorities are under fire for not managing the issue better and ensuring better traffic flow during this period.
Citizens slammed the officials on X (former Twitter) and raised questions about the arrangements. A user on X said, “Is Anant Ambani’s marriage a public event? Why is the normal public disturbed by someone’s marriage? Another user expressed their frustration over the traffic arrangement on the internet: “Billionaire’s wedding is a priority; the daily commute is not.” Another social media user shared, “You all are thinking it’s a normal thing; earlier we handed over airports for celebrity weddings, and now roads; one day India will be sold out to them.”
While we’re all about big fat desi weddings, it does seem unfair that the roads in the area are being blocked off for someone’s wedding making it a difficult day for many. I mean, how is a rich man’s wedding a “public event”? And this isn’t the first time that PUBLIC areas have been blocked off for the Ambani wedding. We remember what happened in Itlay, don’t we?
