The kind of violent criminal activities that happen against women across the world is outrageous. It just makes you question humanity. Another shocking case has emerged from Andhra Pradesh, where a pregnant woman was kicked and attacked for simply raising an issue with the loud noise from the firecrackers. The police took strict action against the man and also put up videos on social media to send across a strong message. Read on for more about it.
What Happened?
The case in question happened in Andhra Pradesh, where a pregnant woman named Sandhya Rani was allegedly kicked and beaten by a man after she raised issues with the noise from the firecracker sound. As per an NDTV report, the man was identified as Ajay Deva, and the police said that on being annoyed from the woman’s request, he strangled her and kicked on her stomach to hurt the unborn child. He was accompanied by another YSRCP activist, Anjinappa. The incident happened on December 21 on the occassion of former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s birthday celebrations.
As per the reports, the main accused has been arrested, but the other one is on a run. The police is investigating the matter and is trying to arrest him at the earliest. The police also paraded the accused, Ajay Deva, and he was made to do the walk of shame following the shameful incident. Legal actions have also been taken against the accused.
This is simply unacceptable. The fact that men take liberty to assault women, in this case a pregnant woman only shows that the women’s safety in India does not exist at all. Until and unless, there are strong actions against such men, nothing really is going to change. The mindset is another issue because it’s just so difficult for men to see a woman raise her voice. There should be strict actions against them by the authorities.
