What Is Operation Mahadev In Which The Mastermind Behind Pahalgam Attack Was Killed?

The Pahalgam Terror attack took many innocent lives and left the country shattered. The horrifying visuals of the incident was a nightmare. India quickly retaliated with Operation Sindoor in which the armed forces reportedly destroyed many terrorist camps. A new Operation Mahadev was carried by the Indian army in which three terrorists were killed. Read on to know more about this operation.

What Is Operation Mahadev?

Another major achievement for the Indian armed forces against the terrorists happened on Monday, July 29. The special para commandos of the Indian Army had an encounter with the terrorists in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. In this mission, Operation Mahadev, the commandos shot down three terrorists, as per the report by Times Of India. The PTI also reported that one of the terrorists killed in this operation was the mastermind behind the Pahalgam Attack. As per the report, the terrorist Suleiman used the alias Asif, quoting some statements by the authorities.

Apart from Asif, two other terrorists Jibran and Hamza Afghani have also been killed, as per the news reports. Furthermore, Jibran was reportedly identified as the terrorist who was allegedly a part of the terrorist attack in Sonamarg Tunnel Attack of October 2024.

As per the reports, the forces recovered many rifles from the terrorists and their bodies were handed over to the local police. This mission was named Operation Mahadev by VK Birdi, Inspector General Of Police in the Kashmir Zone. The identification of the terrorists was done by the local police.

For the unversed, India had also carried out Operation Sindoor in which many terrorists were reportedly killed and camps destroyed. India also banned many Pakistani artists as a method to retaliate against the terror attack.
