South Korea’s intelligence agency, NIS, gave new details to lawmakers recently. A lawmaker named Lee Seong-kwen said Kim Ju Ae has moved past the training phase and is now in the “successor designation” stage. This means North Korea is preparing her to take over as leader one day. The NIS noticed her at many public events, like the Korean People’s Army anniversary and a visit to the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun. She also seems to give input on some state issues, which is a sign that she is being treated as the next in line.

For those of you who don’t know, according to reports, 13 years old Kim Ju Ae is the daughter of Kim Jong Un and his wife, Ri Sol Ju. However, her life is very private, so little is known about her. She first appeared in public in 2022 at a missile test. That event started rumours about her future role. In the years after, she joined her father at several official activities.
She is the only child of Kim Jong Un and Ri Sol Ju that the public has seen. The NIS thinks there might be an older son, but he has never been shown or named in any reports. Currently, the entire world is following these secretive changes in North Korea’s leadership in a close manner, as they could shape the country’s future path.
