Nita Ambani, chairperson of Reliance Foundation, shared a deeply personal story while delivering the keynote address at the Harvard India Conference 2025. The 60-year-old philanthropist spoke about her family’s financial struggles during her childhood and how her mother’s words that morning left her emotional.

Nita Ambani On Her Education

Nita Ambani recounted how her mother had called her daughters-in-law, Shloka and Radhika, to share a cherished memory. “When Nita was young, we couldn’t afford to send her to Harvard, even though she dreamed of studying there. Now, she’s here, invited to speak at Harvard,” her mother said. The anecdote was met with loud applause from the audience. Nita Ambani expressed her heartfelt gratitude, saying, “I just want to thank you all for making my mother so happy today.”

Dressed elegantly in a navy blue silk saree, Ambani greeted the audience with folded hands before beginning her address. Her daughter, Isha Ambani, was also present in the audience, witnessing the emotional moment. Following her speech, Nita Ambani participated in a rapid-fire round, adding a light-hearted touch to the event. When asked to choose between her husband, Mukesh Ambani, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, she responded with a witty remark: “I think Prime Minister Modi ji is good for the nation, and my husband Mukesh is good for my home.” Her clever response drew laughter and applause from the audience.
