A chilling incident took place in Meghalaya, where a young woman named Sonam Raghuvanshi allegedly planned her husband Raja Raghuvanshi’s murder during their honeymoon. Did Sonam Raghuvanshi Plan Husband’s Murder Way Before Wedding?
On May 11, 2025, Sonam Raghuvanshi married Raja Raghuvanshi in Indore. Before her wedding, she allegedly worked with her lover, Raj Kushwaha and planned Raja Raghuvanshi’s death. According to Hindustan Times, police stated that Raj Kushwaha contacted three men, Anand Kumri, Akash Rajput, and Vicky Thakur, weeks earlier.
Following that, on May 17, these men left Indore for Meghalaya with Rs. 50,000 and a mobile phone. To avoid suspicion, Raj Kushwaha stayed behind. Reports also indicate that Sonam took Rs. 9 lakhs and jewellery before the trip. She also didn’t book return tickets.
Furthermore, the couple reached Shillong on May 21 and then went to Sohra. On May 23, Raja was killed and his body was pushed into a gorge near Wei Sawdong Falls. According to police, Sonam helped to dispose of his body, police claim. Near the body, several items were found. Moreover, a local guide saw Sonam with three men.
On June 2, 2025, police found Raja’s body. The entire social media was shocked upon hearing the news. Sonam fled to Guwahati, then Indore, before surrendering in Ghazipur on June 8.
The police investigation is still going on, and by June 3, 2025, they suspected Sonam. Four arrests followed, including Sonam, Kushwaha, and the three men. Meghalaya’s Chief Minister praised the police for their fast work. He also stated that a significant amount of evidence has surfaced, with facts pointing towards Sonam. The Chief Minister further added that it took the police several days to piece together the various bits of information and connect the missing links, but ultimately, these connections led back to Sonam.
