Meesho Receives Backlash For Selling Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi T-Shirts. What A Sick Behaviour!

After NCP leader Baba Siddique’s unfortunate death, the name Lawrence Bishnoi is back to making headlines. However, another very disturbing piece of information was recently highlighted by a Twitter user who flagged the sale of t-shirts with the gangster picture on it. The name of a prominent shopping app Meesho has come up in this incident and the platform has received heavy backlash from on social media. Read on to know more about it.
Meesho Selling T-Shirts With Lawrence Bishnoi Print
Filmmaker Alishan Jafri took to his Twitter account to slam e-commerce platform Meesho for selling t-shirts with gangster Lawrence Bishnoi prints on them. He also shared two pictures of the same. The t-shirts were apparently available in all sizes including kids. Jafri called it an example of radicalisation in India. He further shared images of t-shirts with the face of another gangster named Durlabh Kashyap.
In this Twitter thread, Alishan Jafri highlighted an incident in which a 15-year-old boy killed his friend after taking inspiration from some social media content promoting gangsters.
People are literally selling gangster merchandise on platforms like @Meesho_Official and Teeshopper. This is just one example of India’s latest online radicalisation.

Many people reacted to the Twitter post and bashed Meesho left, right and centre. The Twitter users shamed Meesho and called him mentally sick. People questioned the e-commerce app for promoting a gangster and some of them also called for strict action against the shopping app.
On the other hand, in response to this backlash, Meesho has taken down the t-shirts from the app and has sought an apology for the same. The platform also stated that they are dedicated to making their space a safe and reliable one for the users, as per HT report.
