After the Sister Hong case, another horrifying incident is being reported from China. A Chinese language telegram group chat named ‘Mask Park tree hole forum’ shared images of thousands of women taken secretly in multiple locations, like public toilets and changing rooms. According to the Chinese state-run newspaper Southern Daily, the group chat had over 100,000 people, both from China and overseas. Read on to find out more!
The Mask Park Chatroom Shared Spycam Footage Of Over 100,000 Women
In the MaskPark tree hole forum group chat, some users posted private and intimate pictures of women these men knew in their personal lives. From ex-girlfriends to female family members, footage shared in the chat was secretly filmed using pinhole cameras installed in public locations.
Soon after the Telegram group chat was exposed, hashtags about the case started trending on the Chinese microblogging site, Weibo. The hashtag soon gained over 270 million views. The reason why this incident is particularly shocking is that China has strict obscenity laws, and pornographic content is regularly omitted from the country’s domestic internet. To upload such a high volume of content and access Telegram, users must have used a VPN since the app is banned in China.
According to reports by various Chinese outlets, the group chat had over 103,000 members who shared illegally taken hidden videos of women, couples and even children on the channel. The videos of the victims were taken by spy cameras disguised as screws, power outlets and other common household items.
The chatroom was first created in 2021. It was discovered and dismantled by authorities in 2024 when the group chat had over 310,000 members. It resurfaced again in March this year and again gained a massive following.
