The video of the Manipur women being paraded naked has been circulating on social media, and has left internet users shocked and feeling ashamed. The perpetrators were seen sexually assaulting the two women by touching their privates on camera. The people of India have unitedly condemned this horrifying crime and were shocked over PM Narendra Modi’s silence over this issue. But he has broken his silence and condemned this inhuman act too.
PM Modi’s statement
PM Narendra Modi also expressed at the Manipur incident and said that his heart is in pain and filled with anger. He added that this is a shameful incident to occur in any civilised society. He urged the chief ministers of all the states in India to strengthen their security laws for women, and also that what happened to the ‘daughters of Manipur’ shall not be forgiven. PM Modi also assumed the nation that the guilty will not be spared.
Manipur CM’s statement
Manipur CM N Biren Singh said that his heart goes to those women who were disrespected in this inhumane act. He also informed the citizens that the Manipur police has made their first arrest on July 20, 2023. He also assured that strict action will be taken against the perpetrators and also that the authorities are considering capital punishment to all those were a part of this horrifying crime.

SC takes a suo motu cognisance stance
Chief Justice DY Chandrachud also condemned this inhuman act using the harshest words. He said that this is the ‘grossest of constitutional abuse’, and that the court is deeply disturbed with the videos of the women being paraded naked. The CJI also added that the court will give the government some time to take action on this issue or else it will step in to take matters into its own hands.
Many other political leaders have also reacted to this shocking incident.
The criminals deserve no less than a capital punishment for their inhuman act.
