The horrifying incident of a junior doctor’s rape and murder in Kolkata sent shock waves across the country. The incident came under the spotlight when the 31-year-old’s body was found on August 9. Ever since, doctors from the state, have sat on strike, demanding justice. In the same air, West Bengal, CM Mamata Banerjee found herself in great trouble, when leaders from the opposition party, prominent political figures and state residents, aggressively demanded her resignation, for failing to handle the situation.

Amid the ongoing protests, CM Mamata Banerjee took to her X account and expressed sorrow on TrinamParty Foundation Day day. Tweeting about it, the West Bengal CM mentioned–”Today, on the foundation day of Trinamool Chhatra Parishad, I am dedicating it to our sister, whose tragic loss at RG Kar Hospital we mourn deeply. We express our heartfelt condolences and seek immediate justice for this horrific incident. Our hearts are with all women of all ages who have been victims of such inhuman acts. I am deeply sorry.”

In her appeal to the students committee, she urged them to stay committed to all social causes and fight for their rights. Mamata Banerjee’s special note comes amid the ongoing protests for the horror that took place this month. The horrifying incident shocked the country, erupting a massive protest in the state, by junior doctors and medical professionals, demanding justice. After a failed investigation by Kolkata Police, the case has been transferred to CBI.
