WB CM Mamata Banerjee Allegedly Blocks ED Raid At I-PAC Premises: Reports

There is a lot happening in West Bengal on the political front. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is currently making headlines after she allegedly interrupted an Enforcement Directorate raid in Kolkata. The confrontation between the ED and the CM led to some escalation at the site, and many shocking claims have been made about incident. Read on to know more.

What Happened?

An Enforcement Directorate raid was carried out at the premises of Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC). The raid was linked to a money laundering case and it took place on Thursday in Kolkata. However, as per an NDTV report, the West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee interrupted the raid midway and also took away I-PAC official Pratik Jain’s phone. According to the reports, the ED sources have claimed that WB Director General of Police was also present on the premises and he allegedly asked the ED officials to not record the incident on their panchnama. As per the report, the WB DGP also allegedly warned 3 officials of arrest if they showed any recovery from the raid. The sources have reportedly claimed that officials were overpowered by the security guards and dozens of police officers.

Furthermore, the ED also claimed that the independent witnesses present on the site were intimidated by the police personnels.

However, in her defense, Mamata Banerjee has denied such allegations. She claimed that the ED was trying to recovered internal date and information related to Trinamool Congress. Mamata Banerjee also stated that the raid was politically motivated and she was only trying to “bring back” the documents of her party.
