Several fans gathered at Salt Lake Stadium on December 13, hoping to see the Argentine footballer. However, it took a drastic turn when Lionel Messi’s appearance lasted for about 20 minutes and they couldn’t even have a proper look at him. Not just this, many felt the event focused more on VIPs than on loyal fans and hence they became angry and demanded a refund.
Frustrated fans even threw bottles and chairs, damaged seats, and tried to reach the field. They felt cheated because they paid so much money and hoped to meet their idol after a long time.

Following which, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee shared her shock over the poor planning. She offered apologies to Lionel Messi and all football lovers for the bad experience while setting up a team to investigate what happened and who was responsible.
As per reports, police stepped in to calm the situation and later arrested the main organiser. They also promised refunds to upset ticket holders. Many people expressed their thoughts online as well. One user wrote, “This is soooo not doneeeeee! Very poor management, they should not organise such event if they aren’t able to do it.” Another user wrote, “Unacceptable behavior. I paid a huge amount of money but couldn’t even see a glimpse of him. All the VIPs were present. What about us?????”
