A strange phenomenon has taken over the world, and it’s Labubu dolls. These strange-looking dolls have become a symbol of luxury and can be found hanging from everyone’s branded handbags. The surge in the labubu demand has led the price of these dolls to rocket sky high. Fans have been camping overnight outside stores to get them. No, Labubus Are Not Getting Banned In South Korea

Labubus are a blind box toy made by Pop Mart. This means you can buy a labubu but can only find out its colour and type once you get ot out of the box. Some attribute the rise of these dolls to BLACKPINK’s Lisa and other K-pop idols. They have gained a cult like following for the labubu dolls. But fans are anxious as Pop Mart recently announced that it is officially halting sales at Korean locations until further notice.

Pop Mart further explained that they took this decision due to safety concerns. The suspension of Labubu dolls in physical stores in South Korea is because so many people used to crowd in front of stores, and that became very dangerous. Hence, they took this decision. The company, however, also announced that this decision is temporary.

Labubu was created by artist Kasing Lung and marketed by Pop Mart, and has generated significant revenue for Pop Mart. In 2024, Pop Mart reported $1.8 billion in revenue, with a substantial portion attributed to Labubu.
