Mumbai Police To Issue Second Summon To Kunal Kamra, Rejects Request For One Week Extension

The Kunal Kamra controversy that ignited after his joke on Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is only getting uglier each day. The comedian has refused to apologise to the minister but accepted to cooperate with the authorities if any lawful action was taken against him. The Mumbai police summoned the comedian, however, his lawyer asked him for a week’s extension. Kunal Kamra’s request has been declined by the police and they have issued second summon for him. Comedian Kunal Kamra had requested a week’s extension for appearing before the Mumbai Police in connection to his ‘Gaddar’ joke. However, the police have declined the request and as per the news reports, they are again going to summon Kunal Kamra. The Mumbai Police will be summoning Kunal Kamra to appear before the investigating officer in the case related to his earlier remark on Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. More updates on the same are yet to be reported.

On the other hand, many ministers have demanded an apology from Kunal Kamra, among them are the Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. They have also called for strict action against the comedian.

However, actor-turned-politician Jaya Bachchan had a different opinion on the controversy. She slammed the violence by the Shiv Sena workers and called it a suppression of freedom of speech. She also asked the media to report the matter wisely.

The comedy club in Khar, Mumbai has also decided to shut down after the Shiv Sena workers vandalised the venue. It was the same place where Kunal Kamra had performed his show months ago.
