Kolkata Doctor Rape, Murder: Evidence Tampering Attempt, And 4 More Revelations In The Case During CBI Probe

On Tuesday, the Central Bureau of Investigation took over the heinous Kolkata doctor’s rape and murder case. The CBI started investigating right after the Kolkata High Court’s direction. Earlier, it was revealed that the accused, Sanjay Roy, confessed to the brutal crime with no remorse. Moreover, the CBI will visit Kolkata on Wednesday, and here are the latest updates about the case!

Latest Highlights About The Kolkata Doctor Rape, Murder Case

1. The West Bengal Doctors’ Forum sent a letter to the CBI on Tuesday, saying that they believe someone is trying to mess with the evidence by doing construction work near where they found a female doctor’s body. Moreover, the initial autopsy report indicated that she had been a victim of a violent sexual assault. Moreover, the letter, signed by Dr Koushik Chaki and Dr Sanjoy Holme Chowdhury, mentioned that they heard about the construction happening near the crime scene at the hospital. 

2. According to PTI, after the CBI took over, they quickly finished all the paperwork according to the High Court’s order. The High Court asked the state police to hand over the case files to the central investigation agency. Following this, the CBI registered the FIR from the Kolkata Police. 

3. On Wednesday, CBI officers from Delhi will visit Kolkata along with forensic experts and medical professionals. They will examine the autopsy report, and video recordings, and will visit the location where the body was discovered. Additionally, the team may visit the place where the doctor lived.

4. On Tuesday, West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose told university leaders to improve safety on campus according to PTI. Furthermore, in a virtual meeting, the governor talked about the need for increased security for female students, teachers, and other staff members.

5. FORDA mentioned that they will officially stop the strike starting Wednesday morning. As, the ministry promised to kickstart this process within the next 15 days, according to the resident doctors’ group.  Moreover, on Tuesday night, a group from FORDA met with Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda at his home.
