Kolkata Doctor Rape, Murder Case: Everyday Court Hearings Against Prime Accused To Begin From November 11
The brutal rape and murder case at RG Kar Medical College happened on August 9 and only one person has been accused of committing the crime.

The horrifying Kolkata doctor’s rape and murder case raised alarming concerns about women’s safety in India and also the threatening situations being faced by doctors. Almost three months into this crime, no substantial judgement has been made, however, the Sealdah Court has finally ordered everyday hearings for the prime accused in the crime, Sanjay Roy. Nevertheless, the alleged accused continues to dismiss the claims. Read on to know more.
Everday Court Hearings
The CBI took over the Kolkata doctor’s rape and murder after a few days of the crime. However, the first prime accused Sanjay Roy had already been arrested. Roy, a civic volunteer was taken into custody on August 10, a day after the crime happened at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College. After taking over the case, the CBI took more days to file a long chargesheet against the prime accused. In this, they provided details of eyewitnesses, CCTV footage, DNA reports, and more to make their case stronger against Roy. The Sealdah Court has framed charges and has passed orders to hold everyday court hearings of the case. This shall begin on November 11, as per multiple news reports.

However, Sanjay Roy continues to dismiss all the claims by the CBI. As per a TOI report, the prime accused kept saying that he is not guilty and was being framed to hide the real culprits from the police van.

For the unversed, a 31-year-old doctor was brutally raped and murdered on August 9 at RG Kar Medical College, Kolkata. The college’s principal is also under police custody currently, and the court has dismissed bail pleas for him. He has been arrested for financial irregularities.
