Recently, such a case has been reported from Hooghly near Kolkata, where a minor girl was r*ped last Friday night when she was sleeping next to her grandmother. Read on to know more.
4-Year-Old Girl Kidnapped And R*ped In Hooghly Near Kolkata
A senior police officer revealed that the victim was sleeping on a cot under a mosquito net next to her grandmother when the crime occurred at the Railway shed in Tarakeshwar. She belonged to the Banjara community.
The attacker reportedly cut through the mosquito net and kidnapped the 4-year-old girl, according to her family. The girl was later found in a pool of blood near the Tarakeswar railway high drain the next day in afternoon.
The girl’s grandmother showed the torn mosquito net and said that it was around 4 am when the kidnappers took her away. She also tearfully revealed that since their homes have been taken, they live on the streets.
The authorities have since arrested one person on Sunday. A case has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).
Outrage sparked after the news of this heinous r*pe case was revealed. BJP attacked Mamta Banerjee’s party by alleging that the police were refusing to file an FIR in relation to this case.
Suvendhu Adhikari, a BJP MLA from Nandigram and the leader of the opposition, posted about the incident on X (formerly known as Twitter) and said, “4-year old girl child has been r*ped in Tarkeshwar. Family rushes to Police Station, but FIR not registered! Taken to the Hospital – referred to Chandannagar. Tarkeshwar Police busy burying the Crime.
