Kolkata Doctor Rape, Murder Case: CBI Claims First FIR Was Lodged After Cremation, Attempt To Cover-Up

The Supreme Court held the hearing on the Kolkata doctor’s rape and murder case on Thursday again. The CBI submitted a status report on the 31-year-old doctor’s brutal case. As per the investigating team, an attempt was made to cover up the incident. In their statement to the Supreme Court, CBI made some shocking revelations to back their claims. Read to know more.
What Did CBI Say To Supreme Court?
The Central Beaurau Of Investigation (CBI) is currently handling the doctor’s rape and murder case at RG Kar Medical College, Kolkata. They submitted a report to the Supreme Court bench headed by CJI DY Chandrachud during the second hearing of the case. In this, the CBI spoke about some challenges they faced after being given the responsibility of the investigation. During their statement to the SC bench, the CBI stated that they entered the investigation on the fifth day and some attempts to alter the crime scene had already been made. The CBI also said that the FIR was registered after the body of the victim was cremated and also claimed that there was also an attempt to cover up the crime.

The CBI represented by Solicitor General Tushar Mehta added that the cremation of the body was done at 11:45 PM and the parents of the victim were first told that it was a suicide and then death. The friends on doing videography and that’s when they found something was wrong, added the Solicitor.

In the latest hearing, the Supreme Court took notes of all the statements made by the CBI and raised some important questions on the ignorance during the investigation. During the next hearing, the Kolkata Police officer who registered the case has also been asked to present themselves before the SC bench.
