According to the latest update on the Kolkata doctor rape murder case, the government officials and protesting junior doctors are ready to hold a second round of talks with the government officials to reach a conclusion on the matter and to talk about the safety of women doctors. Earlier a meeting was held on Monday in the presence of West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee.

Update On Kolkata Doctor Rape, Murder

In the latest update, this is the second meeting between the two parties in the span of last of 48 hours, the first meeting was held on Monday. The West Bengal government had invited the junior doctors protesting over the Kolkata doctor rape, and murder case to meet at the State Secretariat, on September 18 at 6:30 pm. Chief Secretary Manoj Pant stressed the point of the state government’s appeal over protesting doctors to return to their posts as a flood-like situation has prevailed in many parts of the state.

The State government stated to the protecting doctors, “You are aware that many districts of South Bengal are facing a flood-like situation with vast areas inundated. Manoj Pant’s email further stated in their note that In the light of the above situation, they are again appealing to the doctors to join duties in the larger public interest and provide services to common people. Chief Manoj Pant along with the other members of the task force will meet the doctor’s delegation of 30 members at Nabanna Sabhaghar on September 18 at 6.30 pm.

Previously, the protesting doctors had requested a discussion on key-unresolved issues such as security in hospitals, set as a pre-condition to lift their ongoing protests, they wrote to chief secretary Manoj Pant. The protesting doctors also mentioned points such as safety inside the hospitals as well as proper details of formulation and functions of the promised task force headed by the chief secretary, as agenda for the proposed meeting.
