Kolkata Doctor’s Father Accuses Mamata Banerjee Of Duplicity

On Sunday, the father of the victim questioned CM Mamata Banerjee about being afraid of the people and attempting duplicity. Furthermore, the father of the 31-year-old trainee doctor, who was discovered dead on August 9 from many wounds, further asserted that the Bengal government is impeding the nationwide protest in response to his daughter’s death.

He said that the people protesting on the streets are finding their voices stifled by the Chief Minister. He pointed out that while she was taking to the streets to demand justice, she was simultaneously arranging to end the other protests in the streets. The mother of the victim reached out to the people benefitting from Government schemes like Kanyashree and Laxmi Bhandar. They should think twice about their safety before accepting such benefits,” she warned.

The mother of the victim also reaffirmed her demand for justice, stating that she would only take monetary compensation from the state government at that point. She demanded the harshest of punishments for those who were accused. She said that only then will she consider the issue of financial compensation from the state government. She asked for justice first. The statements were made just hours after prohibitory orders prohibiting meetings and gatherings of more than five people were placed by Kolkata Police in the vicinity of the state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. After a female doctor at the medical establishment was raped and killed, the hospital was the focus of unrest.

The hospital is now surrounded by Section 163(2) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, according to Kolkata Police. Prohibition orders have been put in place from the area around the hospital to the Shyambazar five-point crossing, according to a police release.
