Kolkata Doctor Rape, Murder Case: Victim’s Parents Reveal ‘Senior’ Police Official Tried To Bribe Them
The trainee doctor was allegedly raped and murdered in Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. The CBI is currently investigating the case.

The Kolkata doctor rape and murder case will be heard by the Supreme Court bench today. A very shocking statement has been made by the victim’s father ahead of it. In an interview with the media, he alleged that the police tried to bribe the family but he immediately declined the offer. In his previous statements also, the father alleged that there were attempts made to hush the case.
The 31-year-old trainee doctor was brutally raped and murdered in Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in August. The case was transferred to the CBI within 5 days of the investigation. The victim’s parents have been only demanding justice for their daughter since then and have been speaking to the media as well. PTI quoted the victim’s father who made the shocking statement about police attempting to bribe him after his daughter’s death.
The victim’s father in his statement alleged that the police was trying to silence the case since day 1 of the investigation and that the family was not allowed to see the body. He also added that they were made to wait at the police station when the post-mortem was taking place and the daughter’s body was only handed over after that. He further alleged that the senior police officer offered them money but he immediately refused to take it.

Many protests are happening in Kolkata to demand justice for the doctor. The parents also became a part of it. The West Bengal government recently passed an Anti-Rape Bill, also called the Aparajita Bill that proposes capital punishment for criminals accused of rape and gang rape.
The CBI has arrested a civic volunteer in the case, and the DNA reports have also proved his involvement in the crime. Many Polygraph tests were conducted on the alleged accused. The Supreme Court took suo moto in the case and the bench led by CJI DY Chandrachud will continue the hearing on September 5.
