The Kolkata Rape and murder case has taken a horrific turn. The incident that came under the spotlight on August 9, 2024, took place at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. A 31-year-old trainee doctor was brutally murdered and raped while being on duty. And after a failed investigation by the West Bengal police, the case has been transferred to the CBI. Latest update reveals many loop holes in the case, that draw it towards the real culprits. Here’s the latest update on the case.
1. CBI Conducts Psychoanalysis On Accused Sanjay Roy
According to the latest update, psychoanalysis test of the prime accused Sanjay Roy in Kolkata rape-murder case will take place. Civic volunteer Sanjay Roy, who is the main accused in this case, will undergo a psychoanalysis test.
2. BJP leader Locket Chatterjee Summoned By CBI
In the latest update, CBI has summoned two doctors and BJP leader Locket Chatterjee over the case. The BJP leader alongside doctors were summoned for allegedly spreading misinformation about the case and revealing the victim’s name.
3. Former NCW Chief Rekha Sharma Says “Not One Person’s Work”
Amongst other key political figures, former NCW Chief Rekha Sharma also talked about the case and suggested that this doesn’t look like a one person’s job. “If a woman is not safe at her workplace, where will she be safe?” Sharma also accused chief minister Mamata Banerjee of attempting to protect the key culprits in the case.
4. CBI Grills Former Principal Of R.G. Kar Medical College Again
After investigating principal Sandip Ghosh of RG Kar Medical College for two times in a row, CBI to commence another round. Principal Sandip Ghosh has been a significant name in the case and was questioned for over 13 hours yesterday. The same round of questioning will take place again.

5. IMA Writes To PM Modi
The Indian Medical Association wrote a special letter to PM Modi, enlisting 5 demands. In the letter to PM Modi, IMA demanded amendments in the epidemic disease act of 1897, strong security protocols in all hospitals, equal to that of an airport. Moreover, the letter lists down the lack of good working conditions in a hospital like adequate rest rooms for resident doctors. They’ve also demanded a thorough investigation within a limited time frame and “appropriate and dignified compensation for the family of deceased.”
