Kolkata Doctor Rape, Murder Case: Opposition Demands CM Mamata Banerjee’s Resignation Instead Of Focusing On Justice

The henious crime of rape against a 31-year-old doctor in Kolkata shook everyone. The masses have been protesting non-stop to give justice to the victim who suffered a great deal of injuries at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. And while the Chief Minister of spoke about punishing the victim, the opposition is not happy with her handling of the case. On Thursday, many opposite leaders demanded the CM to resign their position due to poor handling of such an important case. From the BJP to CPI (M), everyone has spoken about their concerns.

1. The BJP

In response to the vandalism at the state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, where young doctors were on leave in protest at the alleged rape and murder of a post-graduate trainee last week, the BJP demanded on Thursday that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee resign. The party declared, “It is a disgrace for a police force to be unable to protect a crime scene or its citizens.” Both the CM and the Police Minister ought to resign right away. Their incapacity is putting lives at peril. #ResignMamta

2. The CPI (M) Left Front

The Party said, “It is a disgrace for a police force to be unable to protect a crime scene or its citizens.” The CM and the Minister of Police should step down immediately. Their incompetence is endangering people’s lives.

3. Bengal LoP Suvendu Adhikari

On Tuesday, senior BJP figure Suvendu Adhikari called for West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to step down for her alleged inability to protect women physicians working in state-run institutions. Adhikari, the assembly’s leader of opposition, called on people to take to the streets and demand that Banerjee, who also holds the portfolios of health and home, quit. He also announced that BJP MLAs would stage a sit-in in Kolkata on August 14 to further their demands.

4. Giriraj Singh

In the midst of the current investigation into the death of a trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Union Minister Giriraj Singh unleashed a vicious attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, demanding her resignation. When criticizing Ms. Banerjee, Mr. Singh said, “If she has even a little morality, she should resign while the investigation is ongoing.” He questioned the silence of opposition leaders like Rahul Gandhi and claimed that such crimes happen under government cover.

5. CPI (M) leader Subhashini Ali

Subhashini Ali, a member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) Politburo, demanded the resignation of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in the wake of the state’s alleged rape and killing of a trainee doctor. She questioned the Kolkata police for manipulating the case as a suicide.

6. Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan

On Friday, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan criticized the Mamata Banerjee administration, claiming that the system was totally broken. The Chief Minister accused the “Left and Ram” of orchestrating a plot centered on the rape and killing of a junior physician at the RG Kar Medical College, which prompted the Union Minister’s remarks.

7. Brinda Karat

Brinda Karat accused Mamata Banerjee of giving the accused principle of the college a second job within 4 hours after he was fired.
