Many shocking truths about the corruption and alleged illegal activities in Kolkata’s health department have been slowly coming to the surface after the 31-year-old doctor’s rape and murder case at RG Kar College. A recent meeting headed by IMA (Indian Medical Association) and attended by 15 principals from different medical colleges took place. The principals revealed about facing pressure and bullying for not following the orders of a powerful lobby in the health department. The principals made disturbing revelations about the threats that were posed to them by the lobby.
During the meeting, the Medical college principals spoke at length about a lobby. One of the female principals said that a junior doctor harassed her by calling her name just for not doing a bidding of the ‘North Bengal lobby’. She further added that the junior doctor also threatened to harm the family and her kids.
Principals also revealed the illegal activities that happen during the exams. They said that some selected students get the question paper before the exam and also revealed that students use Chatgpt on phones and laptops. One of the principals also claimed that 40 per cent of answer sheets would be identical if this year’s exams were reviewed. Principals also claimed teachers have randomly been removed in the middle of their invigilation, as per the news reports.

The IMA expressed deep shock after hearing these claims and said that they no longer have any expectations of getting justice from the system since principals are also not safe at their workplaces. The IMA also added that the health department is run by corrupted and power-hungry people but they were more surprised that even the state health department did not intervene.
