Kolkata Doctor Rape Case: 5 Latest Updates On Horrific Crime That Took Place In RG Kar Hospital

Kolkata Doctor Rape Case: The heinous crime against a 31-year-old doctor that happened at R.G Medical College in Kolkata has created an uproar in the country. The case was transferred to the CBI by the Kolkata High. Many protests have taken place across the country to demand justice and action in the rape case. There have been some latest updates on the matter, read to learn more about them.

1. CBI Questions Doctors, Staff From The Hospital

In the latest updates on the case, the Central Bureau Of Investigation (CBI) called in 5 doctors and staff for questioning. They all worked at the R.G. Kar Medical College. The CBI summoned three trainee doctors on duty on Thursday night when the heinous crime happened. The CBI also questioned the officer-in-charge of the Tala Police Station which falls under the hospital’s jurisdiction and the former head of the department of chest medicine from the same medical college.

2. Arrests Made For Vandalism, Tampering Evidence

Many goons broke inside the R.G Kar Medical College and vandalised the property including the crime scene. As per the new reports, attempts were also made to tamper with evidence and many CCTVs were broken. Attacks were also made on the doctors. As per the latest updates, 19 arrests have been made for the vandalism.  As per the Kolkata Police tweet, 5 of them were arrested through social media feedback. They also asked for the public’s help in identifying the men from the mob.

3. Kolkata Doctors Announce Strike On August 17

The Kolkata Doctors have announced that some services will be closed on August 17 from 6 AM for the next 24 hours. This comes in as a protest against the Kolkata doctor’s rape and murder. In this, services like elective surgeries and out-patient departments will not work. However, essential services and casualty wards will be functional.

4. Victim’s Father Declines Compensation

The CBI met the victim’s family on Thursday. In his statements to the media, the doctor’s father said that he had refused to take any kind of compensation in the case and had strongly demanded for justice his daughter’s murder.

5. TMC’s Rally On August 16

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee announced TMC’s rally on August 16 to demand justice in the Kolkata doctor’s rape and murder case.
